Dining Room

The Dining Room, once the Cleburne family’s ballroom, is available to all guests. It is a beautifully-proportioned room with one long table. Three French windows give access to the original front lawn and verandah.

The Dining Room also serves as a second Gallery, with several larger paintings on the walls. On chilly days, the wood-fired heater will keep the room cosy. The early morning sun shines through the large window at the eastern end of the room, and during summer, tables will be available on the Verandah.

Artwork by Mandy Renard, Heath Lander, Penelope Ann, Peter Day, Peter Stephenson.

The Reading Room

The Reading Room is book-lined, cosy and darkened, with comfortable old armchairs, low tables and stacks of books, newspapers and magazines. It is available to all guests. Feel free to browse at any time. Journals include ‘Island’, ‘Belle’, ‘The Monthly’, ‘40 Degrees South’ and ‘Tasmanian Life’. Newspapers include ‘The Age’ and ‘The Australian’. Artwork by Wayne Brooks and others.

Other Facilities

The Grounds

Please feel free to explore our four and a half acres. Features include a willow-shrouded pond, a rose garden and mature trees. Our alpacas Dizzy and Chocolate are always curious about visitors. Be careful, Dizzy may spit and his juices are noxious! Our geese may be found anywhere. Our Hungarian Pulis, Sassie and Mathilda, will appreciate a respectful greeting.

We have a one hundred year-old Mulberry tree, some huge gums and established European trees, the grounds are and will remain in development. Paths and steps are uneven. Be careful. Our blog will feature garden plans and progress notes.

We have installed a Biolytix system in which worms break down effluent to a harmless liquid which fertilises a section of lawn. We will acquire some chooks, soon.

Our veggies are fed with Alpaca and local horse manure.

Tourism brochures will be on display. We are enthusiastic about our beautiful island and are happy to discuss local activities and attractions with you. Please just ask.
